Alignment Yoga helps people find balance between strength and flexibility by exploring detailed postural alignment principles in each yoga pose. The practice is a form of Hatha yoga that covers all areas of the yoga practice, from yoga poses to breathing techniques and meditation. Classes also offer inspirational teachings that encourage us to value and celebrate one’s own life and wellbeing.

Weekly Schedule
For students who are familiar with the foundations of yoga and beginner standing poses, this class offers an opportunity to refine your practice and grow. Together, we’ll explore yogic teachings and philosophy while expanding your postural vocabulary with new challenges—such as headstand (Sirsasana), full arm balance (Adho Mukha Vrksasana), and variations of backbends, twists, forward bends, and shoulder stand.

This class is ideal for beginners to Alignment Yoga or for anyone wishing to reconnect with the foundations of practice. We’ll focus on basic postures and alignment principles in standing, seated, twisting, and bending poses. You’ll also be gently introduced to simple inversions, such as plow pose (Halasana) and shoulder stand (Sarvangasana), along with teachings that encourage a yogic mindset.
Registration is ongoing and open all season long. If you’re joining for the first time, take advantage of the “Exploration 5-class discount” for new studio members. Returning studio members will need to open or sign-in to their BleuYoga portal. Jeannine’s classes are taught in both English and French.
Chanting the Opening & Closing Mantras
Learn the opening and closing mantras. Mantras are chanted to uphold, honor and soften into the spiritual side of our practice. The opening invocation is sung at the start of the class to open our hearts and give reverence to our inner power, our inner guide. The closing mantra is a chant of radical self-acceptance. It gives us a chance to make peace with the parts of ourselves we are challenged with and to start seeing all parts of ourselves as divine.
